The best one there is...

Different people have different preferences and needs so there is no exact answer as to which green tea is the best. But in purchasing, just keep in mind that (1) it should be as natural (organic) as it can get and (2) it should be beneficial to one's health.

(1) By natural, I mean it should, as much as possible, be unflavored and unsweetened. Green teas, or teas in general, should taste good even if no sweeteners and flavorings are added. For if it does not, then something must be wrong with it. Manufacturers, at times, tend to place low quality green leaves in order to gain more profit. Therefore, they use artificial flavorings and sweeteners to mask this deficiency.

(2) It should provide most, if not all, of the benefits green tea can offer. It should have strong anti-oxidant properties, as green teas are known for. Therefore, it should make you feel, but also look younger, such as lessening wrinkles. It should help you feel energized, stress-free and not anxious. It should also help prevent heart ailments, cancer, liver problems and immunity functions. Also, it should help improve memory and brain function. You can also benefit by helping with stomach problems and even tooth decays.

With all these things in mind, let us now look at the 5 main different types of green tea according to the types according to their forms and how they are packaged in the market today.

You'll be even amazed that green tea is also available in new forms such as:

e. Green Tea Extract

Country-wise...

Green tea, at present is a worldwide sensation, with almost everyone getting hooked to this delightful drink. Each of them boasts of having the best green teas and each offers a variety of green teas to choose from. Here are some of them.

In China...

Dragonwell - This tea is known to have a very distinctive shape. It is smooth in appearance and flattened perfectly in the inside vein of the green tea leaf, which can only be done with high skill shaping in a very hot wok. Dragonwell has a distinctive sweet, and rounded flavor. This is probably due to the remains of freshly roasted white corn. It is also described as having a full, nutty and sometimes buttery texture and dry finish. The downside, it is quite expensive and produced limitedly. So beware of imitations circulating in the market.

Chun Mei or Chun Mee - is another popular green tea in China. This tea, with its literal translation, meaning Precious Eyebrows, is famously grown and produced in the Yunnan province. This green tea is light brewed. Which gives it a lovely amber color. It also has a sort of dusty appearance. It is lightly sweet but more acidic than other types of green teas. It has the taste of plums in resemblance.

In Japan...

Mancha - is known as the sweetest kind of tea. This type of tea is used in Japanese tea ceremonies. It is quite costly, but is cheaper than China's dragonwell. It has a very nice flavor. It tastes more like a luxury dessert you enjoy and crave for than the usual, regular, everyday tea you're probably used to. It is also the popular flavor used in sweets and in ice creams.

Sencha - is probably the most popular among green teas. And it is also available in more stores compared to Chinese green teas. Its taste is described as with a bitter-sweet balance and with added spicy complexity. It also has a cheaper version, the Bancha.

In India...

Assam green tea - it is known to be grown in the northeast part of India. This green tea has a great flavor with just a hint of malt in it with a little of honey. The good thing about this tea is it doe not have any bitter taste. This makes is an excellent choice for all-around purposes.

Darjeeling green tea - It has a very distinct flavor that other people find very soothing and relaxing. This type of green tea from India has a taste of a hint of flower and it is in a milder body than its black tea counterpart. It is also descriced as grassy, and sometimes musky. It is lighter in color after being brewed- amber. It also emits soft aroma that makes it even better.

In conclusion:

Green tea is very popular. So through the years, many manufacturers try and try to offer a variety of choices available in the market to give consumers the freedom to choose which one fits for them. They come in different packages such as in bags, tablets, organic types and even in gums and candy like appearance. Of the many countries, the main producers for green tea are China, Japan and India.
